Surrey Docks

Surrey Docks Liberal Democrats campaign on the side of local residents to make sure all new developments protect green spaces and provide affordable homes. They are also fighting to speed up the woeful broadband speeds in the area.

Our shopfront in The Blue has now closed, but there is a Liberal Democrat councillor advice surgery every Saturday morning opposite the library (10.30 to 11.30am) at 53 Rock Grove Way, SE16 3UQ.

We will always fight your corner.

David Hubber, 020 7525 1447

SDODavidHubber_Cropped.jpgDavid Hubber is a local voice of experience with over 30 years’ service as a councillor.

He has represented residents in Surrey Docks since 2002, campaigning tirelessly on local issues such as broadband access, traffic congestion and retaining the area’s famous red paving.

Formerly a magistrate for 34 years, David is passionate about justice and human rights, as well as creating a greener Southwark. He is also interested in housing and regeneration, having previously been chair of Southwark Council’s planning committee. David has lived locally in Sweden Gate for almost 15 years.

“I’ve spent many years making sure residents and organisations in Surrey Docks get their voices heard at the council,” says David. “I will continue my work to protect the unique character of our area, as well as improving local services for people living here.” In particular, he wants to focus on improving youth facilities and playgrounds in the ward.

James Okosun, 020 7525 0320

SDOJamesOkosun_Cropped.jpgJames Okosun is a local campaigner who was elected as a Liberal Democrat councillor in the local elections in May 2014.

He has worked hard with fellow ward councillor David Hubber on important local issues - campaigning for young people, to ease congestion on Lower Road and to ensure that the Labour council keeps our streets clean.

James, 24, is a newly qualified social worker and lives just off Lower Road. He says: "I've always supported the Lib Dems in their work to keep our area low-rise, clean and green and want to represent and help residents. I’m on the side of local people and I will fight hard along with David to improve our area and make sure the Labour council doesn’t neglect Surrey Quays."
